A&CNet — Newsletter

Winter Issue — #1

 From The Editor

Greetings! Welcome To Our First Issue!

We've included what we believe will be some interesting, informative, and entertaining Feature Articles as well as helpful tips for your Art or Craft business.

Our newsletter is NOT intended for only the Art Community and its art lovers or for only the Craft Community and its enthusiasts. It is NOT targeted for only one or the other “sides of this highly creative fence”...

We'd like to help Canada come to see afresh, that when you get right down to it... “there really is no fence”. What our Canadian Art or Craft Communities share in common is a creative passion and an entrepreneurial undergirding that is part of what our country has been founded upon, way back to its earliest beginnings... We want to bring you those “nuggets of truth” and “the down to earth part” of being an Artist, or a Artisan, or a Craft person.

In our “survival of the fittest” world that we all live in today, with its marketing and its money, some of those differences between “the three” have perhaps been contemporized to be something more than they really are. At A&CNet, our intention and our mandate is to share something “for all of you”, and of course for all the Art and Craft lovers, collectors, and enthusiasts alike, too.

Our newsletter is not meant to be focused on any one particular art or craft medium nor will we even begin to presume to teach you how to produce your art and craftworks. We only want to help you. Our purpose is to provide you with some of the “how and why” of the creative art or craft life, and some practical insights and helpful advice on how to market and sell your works, if you're an Artist, Artisan, or Crafter. We’ll also keep you in touch with exciting people, events, and happenings within the Canadian Arts & Crafts Industry.

We strive to make this a valuable and entertaining publication. We at A&CNet are a casual lot, so our newsletter will likewise be lighter but informative reading, more conversational in approach, and definitely not a big intellectual or encyclopedic read…more of a “grab a coffee and your comfee chair, and take a read” kind of newsletter…

In every issue we’ll turn the “Spotlight” on to one of Canada’s creative Artists or Artisans or Crafters. This will be a unique question and answer feature. It will give you a little insight into these creative people’s lives and talents. It’s a privilege for us to enable them to share some of their helpful experiences and insights with you. It may come as a surprise to you, or perhaps not, that most creative people face some of the same challenges, “growing pains”, ups and downs, and joys, on the road to success. We trust this feature will give you some “real-world” examples of how other people have managed their Arts & Craft lives.

Additionally, we want to engage you in a bit of “tongue in cheek” learning fun, via our Pop Quiz and Art Trivia. I know this will be excruciatingly challenging but we promise we won’t be too hard on you.

We encourage you to write us back with your comments. Feel free to make any suggestions on new features or things you’d like us to address in our A&CNet e-Zine. We’ll also consider including any articles from any of you would-be authors, that would be a beneficial read for your peers and Art & Craft enthusiasts. We’re here for you!

There will be a lot more exciting features in upcoming issues. We’ve got a lot of ideas on the drawing board… I hope you enjoy our first issue. We’re new and still “testing the waters” a bit, but stay tuned for more…coming soon!

All the best to you!
