Job Opportunities Available! A&CNet Needs YOU! |
Volunteer/Occasional — Part-time — Full-time
We need good people!
Office Admin/Marketing — Web Designer/Developer — Sales People — Creative Writer
We're looking for “entrepreneurial-minded”, “creatively-bent” people, who have a passion for what they do. People who don't believe in just doing what's adequate to get by.
If you're a good worker and have creative talents and a love for Canadian Arts & Craft, you may be one of the “right people” to join our growing team!
Given that we've just launched, we're going to carefully mind our financial p's and q's and “crawl before we walk, before we run, and eventually we'll fly soon, too” Can we use some extra help? Definitely!
We're initially looking for some volunteer helpers. However, our definite intention is to hire the “right people” as soon as we're able. Any volunteer, if mutually desired, will be quickly “groomed” for a key permanent role within our business. Ours is a casual work environment. We work out of our homes and off our laptops (of course, we have some offices, too). Our business model is a very unique one, NOT at all like the typical corporate mainstream, nor will it ever be. So if you're looking for a different career home, we may have exactly the right thing for you...
We have no shortage of upcoming creative ideas and features and unique things we plan to do and offer via A&CNet. We're currently assembling the “best team” to make it all happen.
Here's the responsiblities and positions were currently seeking help for. This is a great opportunity for those who are a bit of a “Jack or Jill of all trades” with a passionate “marketing or creative flair”. It's ideal for those who would love the opportunity of getting in on the ground floor, to directly participate in the “build-out” of a unique new internet-based business.
If you have skill in any of these following areas, or would like to volunteer your talents for a time, we'd consider that, too...
Market Research/Database Entry
Office Coordination/Administration
Marketing/Advertising/Sales Promotion
Commissioned Sales Agents across the country in every province
Web Designer/Developer
Database Analyst/Programmer
Graphic Designer
Here's our ideal wish list of some of the skills we're looking for. If you've got any of the following qualities and talents, please contact us for more details. We'd love to talk with you.
Personal Skills Wish List:
Highly personable — Must be an effective communicator with good verbal, grammar, and spelling skills
Entrepreneurial & Self-Motivated — Must have “a passion for excellence”, NOT just doing what's adequate to get by
A creative and innovative “sharp” thinker
The right balance of humble, teachable spirit, and yet confident and self-assured
No matter what they do, always having a customer service-oriented nature
Good organizational skills - Able to multitask with attention to detail
Able to work well in a team, or independently as a self-manager in a busy environment
For the Office Admin/Marketing position — Office Skills Wish List:
Proficient knowledge in the following applications or a quick learner for any of these that you don't know well. This could also be a volunteer or part-time position for someone who doesn't have the time to committ for a full-time position.
Data entry skills
MS Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Outlook, Internet Explorer
Though not mandatory, some creative writing skills are a huge plus!
Though not mandatory, some basic bookkeeping knowledge or experience with Simply Accounting would be handy.
Photoshop expertise or comparable graphic design or desktop publishing experience would be a huge asset, as would some Sales savvy
Proficiency in anything else will surely be drawn upon, too!
For the Web Designer/Developer position — Technical Skills Wish List:
(Mostly front-end/client-side design & development skills required)
HTML, CSS, and Javascript, knowledge & experience
Some PHP expertise and MySQL database programming skill, is a huge plus.
Additionally, Photoshop expertise or comparable graphic design experience would be a huge asset as would some Marketing abilities and Sales savvy.
For the Sales Rep position — Sales Skills Wish List:
Passionate and sincere communicator, and especially an excellent “listener”
Love of anything “Arts & Craft”, and talking to people
Adept at building rapport and making people feel comfortable and relaxed
Flexible and adaptable ‘quick-thinker’
True understanding of customer service - knowing how to be a servant, first and foremost
Ability to learn fast and “know what you need to, like the back of your hand”
We're looking to fill these positions sooner than later!

A&CNet Inc. Officially Launches January 1, 2004!
It's been a long time coming... Canada's newest Arts & Crafts website made its debut December of 2003, and officially launched January 1st, 2004! After 12 months “in the works”, owner and President, Daryl Stratichuk, gasped a sigh of relief, “Our labour of love is ready! We've done our homework, and we're now hitting the street... Now the real work begins! We're confident we have the right mix of exceptional value services and features, and irresistably affordable pricing, something for everyone... We've carefully listened to the needs of Arts & Crafts market and endeavoured to provide ‘better access to better information, and no more searching for needles in a haystack’. We're catering to both the Art & Crafts Industry Patrons and Participants, as well as all of Canada's Arts & Crafts Enthusiasts and Aficianados, in fact, anyone that has anything to do with Arts & Crafts in Canada.”
Stratichuk contends, “Creating incredible works of art and craftsmanship is one thing... but it goes necessarily hand-in-hand with marketing... they're joined at the hip or at least have no choice but be... And having some kind of an internet presence these days, is crucial for successful business growth. However, having a website, or even a simple Directory Listing or some online ads, is of no real value, unless you know for sure that it's gaining you some obvious and measurable increase in your business revenues. It must enhance your Industry presence and exposure to your target customers”.
A&CNet is only just beginning... but promises to bring “a lot more” to the Canadian Arts & Crafts Community in the months ahead! Browse through our site and see what we're all about!
Calgary Inc. Magazine, December 2003 Issue, Showcases New Arts & Crafts Upstart, A&CNet!
“Well-Crafted”
“In launching his online business, A&CNet, President, Daryl Stratichuk, intends no less than to introduce an entire sector to the inherent advertising and selling power of the Internet.” It's not that it's a sector that's not yet using the internet, it's that there's so much more that can be done to capitalize on this advantageous medium... Cold hard facts - Compared to other industries, the Arts & Crafts sector is still very much in its infancy as a internet-user- market en masse.
With the launch of artsandcraftsnet.ca, the A&CNet team are initially contacting 3000-plus Arts and Crafts businesses nation-wide. The intention, over time, is to make the A&CNet website one of the largest and most search-engine-friendly and navigation-friendly resource databases and registries in Canada - a “web community” of Artisans and Crafters, Galleries, Arts & Crafts Shows and Events, Suppliers, and Event Promoters & Organizers, including countless supportive Arts & Crafts Organizations and affiliated Educational Institutions.
